Membership of Links-Wales is currently free to organisations which meet the membership criteria. Similarly, all services are free to members. This was a conscious decision, as Links-Wales aims to help new organisations establish projects which will improve the lives of people with learning disabilities, and recognises that the organisations who can most benefit from our help, are those that can least afford to pay.
Membership is open to non profit distributing organisations working with people with learning disabilities. Organisations may either work exclusively with learning disabled people, or with a wider client group that includes those with learning disabilities. A major focus in on employment and employability, either through direct development of Social Enterprises in one of their may forms, or through training. This does not however exclude organisations focussed on improving life opportunities, indeed many such organisations improve employability as an added benefit by improving confidence and social skills.
Members will typically fall into either the Public (Statutory) sector (Social Services, Day Centres etc.) or 3rd (Voluntary) sector (Charities, not for private profit businesses etc.). However, should a private sector firm show a strong commitment to employing people with learning disabilities, they will be welcome to join as Associate Members, having full membership rights, except the right to vote in AGMs or SGMs.
